Jujutsu Kaisen: Explanation of Maki's Heavenly Restricting Curse Technique
In chapter 149 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga we finally get to see Maki get a significant power boost. As a result of the death of his twin brother, he also obtained the Heavenly Barrier technique. Now Maki has gained unparalleled speed and strength. But how did this technique come to life and how does it work? here is the full review.
What is the Heavenly Barrier?
The Heavenly Barrier is a limitation on the body that a jujutsu mage has when he is born, in exchange for strength in other areas. Examples include Kokichi Muta, aka Mechamaru, who was born with a paralyzed right hand and leg, sensitive skin that cannot stand the moonlight, and chronic pain throughout the body.
But on the other hand, Mechamaru can use his cursed technique, in the form of Puppet Manipulation with a range as wide as Japan which is impossible for most other jujutsu magicians. Now this is what is called the Heavenly Barrier in a Jujutsu.
One detail of the Heavenly Barrier that is still unclear is whether the increase in strength will decrease if the limit is removed. In chapter 70, when Mechamaru's body is healed by Mahito, shortly after, a battle takes place where Mechamaru uses the cursed energy he has stored up for the past 17 years.
As the battle progressed, the stored energy began to rapidly decline. This might imply that his cursed energy decreased drastically because his Heavenly Barrier had returned to normal levels after he was healed.
